Limits & transformations

The beginning of my journey with transformative bodywork.

Dancing tango seems to come naturally to some people, others have more difficulties. But no matter how (un)talented we seem to be, there comes a point where we have to look into other disciplines than just tango if we really want to evolve. Maybe we have physical weaknesses/blockages or emotional/psychological limitations. When we enter the world of tango, we are not an empty page, we bring our personal back pack of things, movement experience, injuries, body awareness, cultural identity, personality structures, habits of closeness to others, patterns of thought, etc.

The longer I have been teaching tango, the stronger I feel that tango can teach you a lot, but it has limits. Many other tango professionals have reached that point and started to be trained in other fields, like yoga, pilates, gyrotonics, coaching, physiotherapy, etc. And that’s what I am doing now, too. Transformative bodywork – among other things – looks at patterns we have in our body that limit us in our feeling, behaviour, and in the way we relate to the world around us, and then it lets us explore how we can find new ways of being in this world. And maybe it can also answer the question of how to apply changes that we have solved in tango into other areas of life too.

Doing training like this and entering a totally new field are things I haven’t done in a long time. I also have to work on my patterns. It took me a long time to learn not to be frustrated when I am not able to do something (yet). I really want to stay curious, open, and patient with myself and the process.

If you are curious too and want to help me learn and get better, and also learn something valuable about yourself, stay tuned and get in touch with me. I will need a lot of practice in the following 3 years. And it is not only about dancing, but mainly about ... yeah, just life.
